Patna: A bank official and a village head were today arrested by Bihar Vigilance bureau after a special court issued non-bailable warrants against them for allegedly demanding bribe for releasing funds to the Indira Awas beneficiaries.
Acting on a complaint filed by one Pramila Devi of kadra village that the Tartar panchayat's village head Mohan Prasad and Punjab National Bank's (PNB) Ghoswari branch's then manager Brahmdeo Mishra and cashier Durganath Jha had allegedly sought a bribe of Rs 5,200 from each of the Indira Awas beneficiaries in the areas for releasing funds for construction of houses, the bureau registered an FIR against them.
The agency later approached the special vigilance court and sought NBW for arresting them, sources said. On securing the warrants, they arrested the village head and the cashier here, while efforts were on to apprehend Mishra. Source : PTI
