Bhubaneswar: Coming out of the reform home after nine years behind bars, the juvenile accused in the murder of Australian missionary Graham Stuart Staines Sudarshan Hansda alias Chenchu now dreams to lead the life of a farmer after marriage.
Vehemently denying he was part of the gang which set ablaze the vehicle of the Austrailan missionary, Chenchu told PTI over phone he now wished to leave behind his past and lead a new life.
The boy conceded that he had visited the accident site along with his friends when police zeroed in on him.
"Like other children in the locality, I had gone there", Chenchu said claiming that he was only 14-year old when brought to the juvenile home.
Chenchu, who had three sisters and ailing parents at that time, recalled, "I was picked up by the police and detained at the reformatory home while two of my sisters were yet to be married off".
"I could barely sleep or eat during the days of my incarceration," Chenchu said adding, his younger sisters got married in the meantime. His elder sister had married earlier.
Referring to the old age of his father Ramachandra Hansda, he said that his parents were now alone at the house. "My parents are leading a lonely life after marriage of my sisters. I am their only son." Source : PTI
