Jerusalem: Israel has advised its nationals to avoid travelling to Jammu and Kashmir after its intelligence network reportedly received a threat call from a militant organisation in the Himalayan state.
The advisory was issued by the National Security Council Counter-Terrorism Bureau in view of the fact that Israelis account for the single largest tourist group in the state. It said in a statement that threats of terror strikes against them in the north Indian state have "intensified".
Relatives of Israeli tourists have been advised to pass on the warning and those already in Jammu and Kashmir have been asked to leave at once. The Bureau did not name the militant outfit responsible for having issued the threat. Israeli tourists face a heightened threat from Islamists given the West Asian nations uneasy relations with some of its Arabic neighbours.
