Jammu: To facilitate free movement of thousands of divided families across the line of control, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and patron of National Conference Farooq Abdullah has urged India and Pakistan to ease travel restrictions.
"Travel formalities between Srinagar-Muzaffarabad and Poonch-Rawalakote should be made easy so that people of both the countries can move freely across the border," Dr Abdullah said at a public meeting at Mendhar in Poonch district yesterday.
The travel between the two parts of the divided Kashmir should be eased on the pattern of the European Union. Instead of travel permit, the visitors on both sides of the border should be allowed to move freely by using their Permanent Resident Certificate, he said.
"Until and unless, the formalities are eased, opening of road links between India and Pakistan will remain meaningless," the NC patron said. Source : PTI
