Thursday, May 22, 2008 23:25 [IST]

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will visit China for a week from May 25 to watch the preparations for the Beijing Olympic games being held there a few months later.

She will be accompanied by her Principle Secretary P K Tripathi and Delhi Commonwealth Games Advisor R Narayanswamy among others, sources said.

During the seven-day schedule, the delegation led by Dikshit is planning to inspect games venues such as stadiums, lighting system on the roads, Tripathi said and added "in a nutshell, how Beijing is preparing for the mega event and learn from their experience."

Facing flak over the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor, the chief minister is also likely to see the transportation system in the neighbouring country, where it has been successfully implemented.
