Aarushi murder case: Talwar's bail plea deferred
Monday, May 26, 2008 12:26 [IST]

Noida: The bail application of Noida double murder case accused Rajesh Talwar will come up tomorrow before a court, as it could not be taken up today following a section of lawyers striking work protesting against firing on agitating Gujjars in Rajasthan.

Lawyers representing Talwar have filed the application saying that he be released on bail since he was innocent and also suffering from asthma.

Local police also moved an application today seeking police remand for Talwar, who was sent to 14 days judicial custody on Friday following his arrest for allegedly killing his teenaged daughter Aarushi and family help Hemraj in his residence in Noida's sector 25.

Talwar's lawyers have stated in the bail plea that there was no evidence to link him to the May 16 murders.

Meanwhile, the dentist was shifted to a new barrack in Ghaziabad's Dasna Jail, where he is lodged, after he complained that he was feeling uncomfortable in the over-crowded prison cell.

Jail Superintendent V K Singh said Talwar was shifted to a new barrack which has a fan and a television set.

Talwar's wife Nupur and lawyers, who visited him in the jail on Monday, had also requested the jail authorities to shift him to another barrack.

The Fortis Hospital in Noida, meanwhile, removed the names of Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, the dentist couple, and their family friend Anita Durrani from its panel of doctors after their name cropped up in the case.

Hospital sources said the management decided to strike off their names off from its panel of doctors. The Talwars and Durrani were not employed in the hospital and were visiting doctors.

Police had earlier indicated that it may arrest more people in connection with the twin murder after interrogating Nupur for about two hours.

Investigators had also confiscated the CPU of the computer used by Aarushi during a search of the residence of the Talwars.

Police are also considering moving the court for conducting lie-detector and narco-analysis tests on Rajesh.
