Cops seek permission for narco tests on Talwar
Thursday, May 29, 2008 17:24 [IST]

Noida: Police today approached a local court seeking permission to conduct a narco-analysis test and brain mapping on Noida twin-murder accused Rajesh Talwar as his interrogation continued at an undisclosed location.

Police moved an application in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate A K Singh seeking its nod for conducting narco-analysis test, brain mapping and lie detector tests on Talwar, who has been remanded to three days police custody which ends tomorrow.

Talwar is accused of killing his daughter Arushi and family help Hemraj on May 16. Police alleged he saw both of them in an "objectionable" manner in her bedroom.

Investigators informed the court that the charges of torture and use of "third degree" methods during his interrogation are baseless, sources said.

They said the sophisticated tests would help them in plugging loopholes in the case. Police also provided a list of materials, which included details like seizure of Arushi's laptop from the residence.

The family of Talwar said they it was apprehensive of the dentist's well being as it has not been informed about his whereabouts despite a court directive.

"We don't know where he is. We don't have any communication with him. We hope that he is not harassed and he is not harmed," Dinesh Talwar, brother of Rajesh, told reporters at their residence.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said in Lucknow that her government has decided to recommend a CBI probe into the sensational case.
