New Delhi: A city court Friday sentenced Vikas and Vishal Yadav to life imprisonment for the murder of Nitish Katara six years ago. They were also fined Rs.160,000 each.
Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur, while passing the sentence, said the crime did not fall in the "rarest of rare" category and was not a fit case to warrant a death penalty, which the prosecution was arguing for.
After the sentence was passed, Nitish Katara's mother Neelam said: "I respect the decision of the court."
