Dumka (Jharkhand): Three members of a family, including an 8-year-old boy, were hacked to death by unidentified persons at Dangalpara in Jharkhand's Dumka district, police said today.
The police said a contractor, Rajesh Kumar Singh alias Bablu, his wife Noori and their son, Raj, were hacked by sharp weapons last night.
A five-month-old baby was spared, police said.
Superintendent of Police, Sido Hembram said, "The murder of the couple and their minor son was known this morning."
The bodies of the mother and son were recovered from under the cot and Singh's body was found lying on the verandah, Hembram said.
The incident came to light this morning when nobody responded to the maid's calls and the baby continued crying. The landlord of the house raised an alarm when he found the bodies.
Hembram said some guests had visited them and had dinner before the incident. The police have been investigating all possible angles, including Singh's marriage with the girl from different community ten years ago and possible business rivalry, he said.
