Madurai: A local court today issued summons to actor Sarath Kumar, leader of the Samuthuva Makkal Katchi, and the party's treasurer Selvaraj in a cheque bounce case.
The petitioner, one Balakrishnan, an advertising agent, submitted that the two had given him the responsibility of advertising in newspapers for the party s state level conference held here on February 10,2008. Post-dated cheques for Rs 26.01 lakh were issued for various dates from March 3 to March 30. But all the cheques bounced for insufficient funds at the bank at Chennai, he said.
Judicial Magistrate Ilango, who issued summons to the actor and the party treasurer, posted the case for hearing on July 25.
