Pune: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today said stern action would be initiated against those responsible for the attack on `Saamana office here in the aftermath of the publication of the caricature of Revenue Minister Narayan Rane.
His statement came even as the Sena leader of the Opposition Ramdas Kadam, who arrived here today to visit the vandalised premises, demanded resignation of both Patil, who also holds the home portfolio, and Rane whose followers were allegedly involved in the last night's incident.
Kadam told reporters that `Saamana , Shiv Sena mouthpiece, had published caricatures of NCP President Sharad Pawar on many occasions but he did not react the way Rane did.
The Marathi paper had simply published the caricature of Rane along with the comments of Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh who described his Cabinet colleague as a "newly wed bride" in Congress, he said.
If at all Rane, a Shiv Sainik-turned-Congressman, had any grievance he should have asked his followers to attack Deshmukh's residence, Kadam quipped.
