Mob sets buses on fire in West Bengal

Kolkata: Four buses were set on fire by a mob Saturday after two pedestrians were run over by a speeding bus in Hooghly district of West Bengal.

"Two pedestrians were overrun by a bus at Chanditala area in Hooghly Saturday. The incident agitated the local people and they set fire to four buses. The situation is now under control," Raj Kanojia, Inspector General (Law and Order), told IANS here.

"The police are still on the spot. No one has been arrested so far," he added.

Sources said the police resorted to baton charge to disperse the mob.
