Dibrugarh: An ULFA hardcore was killed in an encounter with the army in Assam's Dibrugarh district today, official sources said here.

Troops of Two Bihar Regiment killed Lance Corporal Prabin Gogoi alias Dhanti at Saraipung under Digboi police station.

Gogoi was a member of the outfit's dreaded 28 Battalion's C company and was involved in several recent incidents of violence.

The security forces recovered a pistol from the slain militant, the sources added.
