No Kargil-type intrusion in higher reaches of Doda
Monday, June 16, 2008 23:25 [IST]

NEW DELHI: No Kargil-type intrusion has taken place in the higher reaches of Doda district in Jammu region, the Army said on Monday.

There is no such incident and no vacant post of army has been occupied by militants in any of the heights along the Doda area, which has its proximity with Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir, sources in Army headquarters said here.

The remark came in the wake of a media report that militants had established a large presence in the higher reaches of Doda.

Earlier in the day, Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor expressed ignorance about the incident. "I am unaware of such an incident. I will recheck it," he said on the sidelines of a seminar on military use of space.
