Fire in 40-storeyed building, no casualties
Thursday, June 19, 2008 21:33 [IST]

Mumbai: A fire engulfed a 40-storeyed building under construction at Worli in southcentral Mumbai Thursday evening.

At least 10 fire tenders rushed to the spot and managed to bring the blaze under control after almost three hours of fire fighting. According to the fire brigade, there are no reports of any casualties so far.

The building, coming up in a residential complex in the Standard Mills compound, is almost ready and the finishing touches were being given to it.

A witness said the sun-resistant plastic exterior caught fire and the blaze quickly spread to more than 15 floors before it fell in heaps on the ground.
