Thursday, June 19, 2008 21:47 [IST]

New Delhi: Minister for Steel, Chemicals and Fertilisers Ram Vilas Paswan Thursday assured Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy that the fertiliser requirement of the state would be met fully.

Paswan told the chief minister, who called on him here, that against the requirement of 75,000 tonnes of di-ammonium phosphates (DAP) by the end of June, 115,000 tonnes of DAP would be dispatched, said an official statement.

Similarly, in case of complex fertilisers, 265,000 tonnes have been dispatched against the requirement of 235,000 tonnes.

During the talks, YSR, as the chief minister is popularly known by his initials, told the union minister that demand for super phosphate (SSP) has increased in the state and the total requirement would be about 160,000 tonnes.

Paswan said the central government would supply 80,000 tonnes of SSP by July 15.
