Two offices looted in Kolkata
Saturday, June 21, 2008 19:11 [IST]

Kolkata: Two offices in a multi-storey building that houses around 850 offices were looted here Friday night, police said Saturday.

The incident took place at Marshal Building in the busy commercial hub of Dalhousie in central Kolkata.

"Two offices on the seventh floor of Marshal Building were looted Friday night. Besides, locks of some neighbouring offices in the building were found broken," city police deputy commissioner (detective department) Jawed Shamim said.

"It is surprising that no official complaint against the theft was lodged till Saturday noon," he said.

"The theft is not a major one but how such an incident can take place amid tight security at the building is a matter of concern," he added.

Police said the booty comprised over Rs.60,000 and a laptop.
