Islamabad: Declaring that the Gilani government will complete its four-year term, PPP chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said he was working on a strategy with PML(Q) leader Nawaz Sharif for President Pervez Musharraf's early ouster or else they both might "end up" in jail.

Zardari today said "some elements" were conspiring to destabilise his alliance with former premier Sharif's PML-N party, but did not elaborate.

Despite the efforts being made these elements to destabilise the ruling coalition, the alliance will go from strength to strength and the PPP-led governments at the centre and in the provinces will complete their full terms, he told reporters at Nawabshah in Sindh province.

Zardari said that the PPP is trying to frame a strategy with its coalition partners to remove Musharraf. "I have told Nawaz Sharif that if we fail to remove Musharraf, we both might end up in Landhi jail," Zardari said at a news conference in Larkana yesterday, adding he had held negotiations with Sharif on two occasions last week to settle differences.

"The dialogue is continuing and our coalition is intact," he said. Reiterating the PPP's commitment to an independent judiciary, Zardari acknowledged that there was no agreement between his party and the PML-N on how to reinstate the judges sacked during last year's emergency by Musharraf.

However, Zaradari did not refrain from launching a veiled atack on Sharif's party saying that the issue of restoring the deposed judges had been "politicised" by some quarters. "The politics of the judicial (issue) is prevailing more than the actual issue," he said.
