Chandigarh: Three women were killed when a train smashed into their car at an unguarded railway crossing in Punjab's Faridkot district Tuesday.

The accident took place near village Jatana, about 300 km from here, when the car driver tried to cross the rail-road crossing when the Rewari-Fazilka passenger train was approaching.

Those killed were Iqbal Kaur, mother of the driver Rashpal Singh, and his sisters, Rupinder and Bhupinder Kaur. All three were in the rear seat which bore the brunt of the crash. Three others survived with injuries.
