When Kamla Wagle, 40, was cooking a fish curry, she might not have thought that it would be the cause of her death. Kamla was allegedly killed by her husband Ratan Hari Waghe, 50, because he did not find the curry to the delight of his palate. Waghe, a resident of Vakdan village near Mumbra, has been arrested by the police.
The police said on June 22, Waghe wished to eat fish curry and requested Kamla to prepare some. But Kamla was not willing to make it.
However, Waghe went to the nearby market and bought some fish and Kamla unwillingly prepared the curry.
“After Waghe ate the curry, he vomited and told his wife that the dish was spiceless and it ruined his mood. This led to a quarrel between the couple and they exchanged heated words,” said a police officer from Dyghar police station in Raigad.
In a fit of rage, the police said, Waghe picked up an iron rod and banged it on Kamla’s head.
“When he saw Kamla collapse, Waghe fled from the house. His neighbours informed the police,” said the official. The police have seized the murder weapon from the house.
The police arrested Waghe from a nearby area.
“On enquiring, Waghe confessed to killing his wife. Further investigations revealed that Kamla was his second wife and his first wife stays with her two children in Panvel,” said the police officer.
According to the police, the couple had tied knots five years ago. The police also said that Waghe has past criminal records and is a suspect in a few cases of robbery.
