Policeman, trooper attacked in Delhi

New Delhi: A Delhi Police constable was attacked when he tried to stop three motorcycle-borne youngsters in southwest Delhi, while a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was beaten up for trying to intervene in a street fight in the same area, police said Thursday.

Police constable Prahlad Kumar was hit on the head with a liquor bottle when he tried to stop the three youngsters, who were allegedlly in an inebriated condition, on a motorbike in Dwarka Sector 16 late Wednesday, police said.

Kumar was alone when the youth smashed the bottle on his head. The three fled from the scene immediately and could not be arrested till late Thursday, police stated.

Kumar was admitted to the Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.

In a separate incident, CRPF personnel Vikram Kumar was roughed up when he tried to intervene in a clash between two groups of youth in Dwarka Sector 19 late Wednesday.

Vikram was recuperating in the same hospital with fractures in his hand.
