Dalai Lama's envoys leave for China
Monday, June 30, 2008 22:07 [IST]

Shimla: The Dalai Lama's special envoys left for China Monday for the seventh round of negotiations with the leaders of Communist China over Tibet.

Lodi Gyaltsen Gyari and Kelsang Gyaltsen will open their two-day talks in Beijing Tuesday.

Sonam N. Dagpo and Bhuchung K. Tesring, both members of the Tibetan Task Force of the Sino-Tibetan Negotiations, and Jigmey Passang from the secretariat of the Tibetan Task Force are accompanying them, according to the secretary to the Dalai Lama, Chhime R. Chhoekyapa.

The Tibetan question has come to the fore in the wake of recent violence in Tibet. The Dalai Lama lives in India heading a government-in-exile that is based in the hill town of Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh.
