Wednesday, July 02, 2008 21:53 [IST]

Palanpur (Gujarat): The driver of a senior Gujarat police official was killed late Tuesday night when his bike collided with a truck-trailer on a highway on north Gujarat, police said Wednesday.

Tejmalsingh Amaraji, the driver of the Banaskantha district superintendent of police, died on the spot near this town on the National Highway No. 14 while on his way to Deesa.

His bike crashed into the stationary trailer, parked on the roadside without lights on.

Police said the trailer was stranded following problems with its lights and the driver had parked the vehicle on the roadside.

Trailer driver Acchi Lal and cleaner Karan Singh were taken into custody.
