Mulayam likely to meet Sonia in a day or two
Friday, July 04, 2008 01:14 [IST]

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and his party colleague Amar Singh are likely to meet Congress President Sonia Gandhi in day or two.

Highly-placed sources in Congress said the meeting between Gandhi and Mulayam and Amar Singh is possible in one or two days.

Specifically asked if the meeting will take place tomorrow, the sources said no schedule has so far been fixed.

There are reports that Yadav and Amar Singh are likely to meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh soon but there was no confirmation of this.

Though SP, whose 39 members in Lok Sabha will play a crucial role in the event of a trial of strength for the UPA government in the House, has not openly declared its support to Congress in case of withdrawal of support by Left parties on the Indo-US nuclear deal issue, all indications are that SP may back the government in that eventuality.
