Nandigram: Fresh exchange of fire and bombing have been reported today from several villages in trouble-torn Nandigram where a bandh is being observed following the killing of a CPI-M leader.

The 24-hour bandh is separately called by CPI(M) and Trinamool Congress in Nandigram to protest the killing of the CPI-M leader Niranjan Mondal yesterday.

"Skirmish have been reported from Bhangaberia, Kalicharanpur and Chanderpul area. Eastern Frontier Rifles jawans and police have rushed to the spot," said Debasish Chakraborty, officer-in-Charge of Nandigram police station.

Meanwhile, Trinamool Congress leader and convener of Bhoomi Uched Pratirodh Committee, the anti-land acquisition forum, Abu Taher has alleged that three of their supporters were injured in the shoot-out.

He said, "Armed cadre of CPI-M in black outfits and sporting black bandannas came in motorbikes from Khejuri and raided the villages. They shot three persons at Bhutar More and hurled bombs at random."

Chakraborty said they have got reports of firing but had no idea of casualty.
