Threat to Thackeray, police looking for Ker youth
Tuesday, August 12, 2008 14:30 [IST]

Alappuzha (Ker): A team of Mumbai police is in Alappuzha town in Kerala looking for a college student who had allegedly issued a death threat to Shiv Sena chief Bal Thakeray on popular web-based networking site Orkut.

The team had yesterday sought the help of local police in tracing Ajith (19) of Mararikkulam near here, who is absconding.

The youth, a BSc Computer Science student of a college in nearby Cherthala, had allegedly issued the threat to Thackeray on a community forum on Orkut.

The Mumbai police had registered a Cyber Crime case against him after closely monitoring the youth's mail account and postings on Orkut.

The youth fled the area before the police team reached his home. They, however, questioned his parents and relatives and had taken possession of the computer hard disk.
