A bomb hoax triggered panic at CST railway station on early Thursday morning.
All local trains leaving the station were checked by the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force RPF (RPF) personnel with the help of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and sniffer dogs.
The police said Sachin Ramchandra Surve, 25,of Mankhurd, told the Sandhurst Road station master that he had overhead four commuters discussing a plan to blow up the first train leaving the station on Thursday morning.
"Surve, a contract labourer in BMCs conservancy department at Dongri, claimed he was travelling in the second class compartment of a CST local when he overheard the commuters saying the train would be blown up between Raey Road and Dockyard Road stations," a police officer said.
Surve got down at Sandhurst Road station and informed the station master about the conversation. The station master informed the GRP and RPF. "Kasara and Panvel-bound trains leaving CST station at 4.05 am and 4.23 am, respectively, and other locals, were scanned for explosives. The premises of CST, Masjid and Sandhurst Road stations were also checked, but no explosive was found," the officer said. According to officials, Surve was drunk when he made the complaint.
