NEW DELHI: A day after the BJP demanded delimitation of constituencies in Jammu, its prime minister-in-waiting LK Advani has written to prime minister Manmohan Singh suggesting a solution to the imbroglio over land for the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB).
The letter comes even as Congress has been accusing the BJP of fanning the problem in the region instead of helping resolve it. Interestingly, while the Congress-led UPA government still flounders for a solution, the CPI(M) and BJP seem to agree on what should be done, going by CPI(M)s Sitaram Yechurys article in a daily and Advanis letter. Both favour dispelling misconceptions about the order that caused trouble in valley leading to its revocation and court orders regarding SASB. The BJP has been warning that failure to follow the court order in this issue would make it another Shah Bano-like case where the government changed the law to get around a court order to suit minority fundamentalists.
Accusing the government of working at a "snail-ike speed" Advani said the government should, at least now recognise the gravity of the situation. Source : DNA
