Medvedev signs Georgia peace plan
Saturday, August 16, 2008 19:53 [IST]
Moscow: Russian President Dmitry Medvedev Saturday signed a peace plan for settling the conflict between Georgia and its breakaway region of South Ossetia, an official said.

"He (Medvedev) had just signed the settlement plan consisting of the six earlier agreed-upon principles," Interfax news agency quoted Kremlin press secretary Natalya Timakova as saying.

He said the president announced this at a meeting with the permanent members of the Russian security council.

The meeting also discussed the current situation in South Ossetia, as well as measures to overcome the humanitarian disaster that occurred as a result of the conflict, he said.
