Police get more time to quiz Asian terror suspects
Saturday, August 16, 2008 20:05 [IST]
London: British police have been given more time to question three South Asian men arrested on suspicion of terror offenses.

Detectives were granted an extra seven days to question the three arrested under the Terrorism Act, 2006.

Two of the men were arrested at Manchester Airport and the third in the Accrington area of Lancashire Friday night.

The suspects aged 21, 22 and 23, are from Blackburn, a Lancashire town with a large Pakistani-origin population.

Junade Feroze, also from Blackburn, was jailed for 22 years in 2007 for helping an Al Qaeda operative with bomb plots in Britain and America.

Police, who are questioning them and searching their homes, confirmed the arrests were not linked to previous terror attacks and were at the "less serious" end of the scale for such offences, local media reported.

Neighbours described the three as “normal, everyday lads”.
