Agartala: Five senior officials of the Tripura food department have been suspended for their alleged involvement in a public distribution system (PDS) scam, officials said here Monday.
"Preliminary investigations revealed that food items meant for PDS worth Rs 1.23 million have been sold in the open market last month," Tripura food minister Manik Dey said. "Five senior officials, including a deputy director of the state food department, were suspended and FIR has been lodged against six more senior officials." The minister said.
