Policeman injured, Imam kidnapped in Assam

GUWAHATI: A greande attack by ULFA injured one policeman while an Imam was kidnapped in separate incidents in Kamrup and Darrang districts of Assam today.

One policeman was injured when ULFA activists hurled the hand grenade at a police party, which was patrolling West Kamrup area accompanied by CRPF, in Kamrup district, police sources said. A gun-battle ensued but the ultras managed to escape.

Meanwhile, the Imam of Paneri Masjid of Darrang district was kidnapped by unidentified persons today, sources said. The Imam Abdul Sattar was travelling in a bus when some unidentified persons forcibly took him away at gun point.
