AURANGABAD: Beed district of Marathwada region was shut down completely after political rivalry here reached a height when a petty quarrel over beautification of a spot ended up in firing in which two persons were seriously injured.

According to details, a committee for celebration of the Saint Bhagwan Baba anniversary was constituted by members of Vanjari community in Beed district, represented by Gopinath Munde, who are more in number. After formation of the committee, internal bickerings led to the split of the committee. As a result, the opponents of ex-minister Jaydatt Kshirsagar came together and formed a second committee, which included Shivsena, BJP and the anti Kshirsagar NCP group, under the leadership of ex-MLA Syed Salim. The committee annoucned its decision to beautify the Hutatma chowk utilising the funds collected for the celebration. After this, the war of credit started.

President of the Beed Municipality Bharatbhushan Kshirsagar, who is the younger brother of Jaydatt, declared that the municipality will do the work of beautification on its own and no one will be permitted to carry on the work. Today around 12:30 p.m. he came with the workers for a survey of the chowk. The panchayat samithi president Sandip Kshirsagar also reached the site. The supporters of the second committee, present on the spot opposed the move of the Kshirsagars.
