Bihar: 5 pilgrims killed in bus accident

Samastipur (Bihar): At least five pilgrims, including two women, were killed and 40 others injured when the bus in which they were travelling overturned on National Highway 2 in Bihar's Samastipur district, police said today.

The bus, with about 60 pilgrims on the way to Deoghar in Jharkhand from Mahant-Maniari village in Muzaffarpur district, veered off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch near Tajpur last midnight, Superintendent of Police, Samastipur, S L Das told PTI.

He said the seriously injured passengers were being treated at the Sadar hospital here while the rest were admitted to the Referral Hospital at Tajpur.
