Moderate quake shakes eastern Japan

Tokyo:An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 hit Japan's Kanto region in eastern Honshu island Wednesday, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

The epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 3.13 p.m. (0613 GMT), was located some 50 km underground in southern Ibaraki district.

Shocks were felt in most buildings in Tokyo and its vicinity.

The train services on both high-speed and conventional tracks were unaffected, authorities said.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. No tsunami warning was issued.
