Agartala: Two insurgents of outlawed National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) have been killed in an encounter with Tripura State Rifles (TSR) at Thalikpara, a remote tribal hamlet, in North Tripura district, police sources said today.

Acting on a tip-off, when a contingent of TSR raided Thalikpara yesterday, the insurgents hiding inside a bush hurled two grenades at them.

The TSR jawans then opened fire and a encounter took place between the jawans and the TSR for around 15 minutes.

After the encounter when the jawans searched the area they found the body of bullet riddled insurgent and an injured insurgent, who succumbed on way to hospital.
