Shahdol (MP): Three persons were killed when they inhaled a suspected poisnous gas emanating from a well in Madaria village in Shahdol district, police said.

The incident occurred last night when a 15-year old boy went inside the well for some work, but failed to return. Later, another person got down and did not turn up.

Worried about the duo, one more person went inside the well and when he also did not came out, scared villagers informed the police.

Police then lowered a lighted lantern inside the well and found that it went off and later some of the villagers also lowered a hen with the help of a rope and when the bird also died, it was found that some poisnous gas is emanating from the well which remained confined inside it only.

Later, police fished out the bodies of the three persons identified as Shivprasad Sahu, Ramlal Saket and Ajeet Sahu. The bodies have been handed over to their relatives today after autopsy, police said.

Police have registered a case and further probe is on.
