CAPE TOWN: Nelson Mandela has been guest of honor at yet another party to mark his 90th birthday.
The anti-apartheid icon beamed benevolently - but did not speak - at a celebration hosted by the Mandela Rhodes Foundation, which provides scholarships for exceptionally gifted Africans and grooms them as future leaders.
The foundation announced it has bought Mandela's former residence in Cape Town thanks to donations from the Friends of the Mandela Rhodes Foundation (USA), and the local Western Cape government. It also announced sponsorship for 13 additional scholars. This year the foundation plans to sponsor 35 scholars in residence.
Mandela turned 90 on July 18, but festivities have been continuing for months.
