Survey done for monorail project
Friday, August 22, 2008 14:18 [IST]

Patna:An initial survey has been conducted to study the possibility of introducing monorail service in Patna, for the first in the country. It is a dream project of Railway Minister Lalu Prasad.

On the minister's directions, the consultancy arm of Indian Railways, RITES, conducted the survey, said A.K. Chandra, chief public relations officer of East Central Railway.

Chandra said the monorail will be a part of a larger railway project in Patna.

Impressed by the monorails he saw in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, Lalu Prasad wants the service in his home state. He said it would help ease the traffic congestion in Patna.
