Bhiwani/Chandigarh:The Haryana government Friday announced that Jagdish Singh, who coached Akhil Kumar, Vijender Kumar and Jitender Kumar for the Beijing Olympics, will be given a reward of Rs.2.5 million for producing world-class boxers.

Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said Jagdish Singh had worked hard to bring laurels to the country through these boxers.

"We have decided to honour him with a reward of Rs.25 lakh. He has done a lot for boxing in Haryana," Hooda said.

Jagdish Singh has already been chosen for the Dronacharya award - the highest government award for sports coaches in the country.

Jagdish Singh and other boxing coaches have trained the boxers at their Bhiwani Boxing Club (BBC).
