Soldier, two militants killed in Jammu and Kashmir

Srinagar:Two militants and a soldier were killed while four more army personnel including two officers were injured in a gun battle at the line of control (LoC) in Kupwara district Friday when the army foiled an infiltration bid.

A heavily armed group of terrorists made an infiltration bid Friday morning in north Kashmir's Machil sector of the LoC, an army source here said.

"The intruders were intercepted and asked to surrender. They started firing at the surrounding troops triggering an encounter.

"So far two terrorists have been killed. One soldier was also killed in the encounter. Four other soldiers, including two officers, have been injured in the encounter," the source said.
