Bhopal:In the background of terror attacks in Banagalore and Ahmedabad last month, Madhya Pradesh government proposes to set up anti-terrorism squads in key cities of the state.
"It was agreed in principle to okay a proposal to this effect at a meeting of the senior officers of the Home Department held in the presence of the Home Minister Himmat Kothari", an official release said.
At present, anti-terrorism squads are functional in Punjab, Delhi, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.
The cities where the propsoed squads are to be raised in Madhya Pradesh include Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Khandwa and Ratlam.
There is also a plan to set up a technical cell in the anti-terrorism squad proposed at police headquarters.
A task force of 175 police personnel, including three superintendents of police, would be deputed in the proposed anti-terrorism squads. Source : PTI
