Chhindwara (MP):Union Minister Kamal Nath today emerged as a possible chief ministerial candidate for the forthcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly election in a meeting of senior Congress leaders.
"We all accept the leadership of Kamal Nath. The leaders present on the dais have no objection to it," AICC general secretary and former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh said virtually disapproving the leadership of PCC Chief Suresh Pachouri. Similarly, former PCC Chief Subhash Yadav, said that Kamal Nath was a capable leader to lead the party in the state. "If the polls are contested in the leadership of Kamal Nath, there is no harm in it."
Soon after Yadav virtually projected Kamal Nath as the leader of the party there were commotions at the party rally with participants rent the air with slogans "Kamal Nath Zindabad" forcing the former PCC chief to abruptly end his speech midway.
Later, Digvijay Singh supporting Yadav said, "I pray to god that what Yadav said today may come true." Singh also asked the AICC General Secretary incharge of the state V Narayan Sami and PCC Chief Suresh Pachouri not to give tickets to those aspirants who are approaching the party offices at Delhi and Bhopal.
"We all know the grassroots workers committed to the party ideals and the same would be known when the time of election comes," said Singh, adding he will not contest the polls. Veerappa Moily, former Chief Minister of Karnataka and chairman of Madhya Pradesh Screening Committee said NDA Government had mortgaged the future of the farmers at the WTO, but Nath had ensured that farmers interest will not get hurt in the process.
