Bangalore: The ruling BJP in Karnataka today accused opposition Congress and JDS of attemping to "destablise" its government led by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa.
Former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Congress leader D K Shivakumar have been hatching a conspiracy in Goa and Delhi respectively to destabilise BJP government, state unit BJP President D V Sadananda Gowda charged at a press conference here.
Gowda's comments on Congress and JDS came amid BJP coming under combined attack from the opposition parties after it poached seven of their legislators and continued "operation lotus" to net few more to ensure a comfortable majority in the 224-member assembly.
BJP won 110 seats in the May assembly elections and depended on six independents for its survival. "The conspiracy against BJP government had the support of JDS supremo H D Devegowda and KPCC President Mallikarjun Kharge.
Congress and JDS were also trying to lure our MLAs", Gowda said, but refused to elaborate. "We don't require advise from Devegowda and Kharge on the political strategies being deployed by BJP to give stability to its government. Ultimately BJP workers understand the need for development of the state," Gowda said taking a swipe at these leaders who had lashed out at BJP for prompting defections.
