BJP demands action against Lalu,Mulayam and Paswan
Saturday, August 23, 2008 18:35 [IST]
Raipur:BJP today urged the Election Commission to take cognizance of the statements of Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav and Ramvilas Paswan speaking in favour of SIMI, when the Centre had termed it a terrorist organisation.

"When Centre had told the Supreme Court that about 400 cases are pending against the SIMI, including 60 in the last two years, how the three stalwarts have called it a social organization," BJP national spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad told reporters here.

SIMI never believe in Indian constitution, and such statements by the heads of the three political parties was a serious matter, Prasad said.

He said the Election Commission should take cognizance of that as political parties have to express confidence on Indian constitution to be registered with the Commission as a political organisation.

Why the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is silent over the statements of two of his ministers calling SIMI a social organization, the BJP asked.

BJP also pulled up the Centre for not providing proof of involvement of SIMI in terrorist activities before the Commission, when it was allegedly behind from the Mumbai train blast to Ahmedabad serial blasts.

However, BSP leaders yesterday visited the village of the person, who was responsible for the killing of 55 people, Prasad wanted to know in which direction the Indian politics was heading towards.
