New Delhi:Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today sought to brush aside suggestions that superstar Chiranjeevi s foray into politics would affect its electoral prospects.
"Let him (Chiranjeevi) come. He has conducted one public meeting. No name, no work," TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu told reporters when asked about the impact of the megastar entering politics would have on TDP.
TDP was becoming "stronger and stronger" and "nothing is going to happen by two or three leaders leaving the party," Naidu said.
Chiranjeevi political foray had already triggered desertions from Congress and TDP. Senior Congress leader Harirama Jogaiah had quit his Lok Sabha membership. Former TDP MPs C Ramachandraiah, V Geetha and B Nagi Reddy and its former legislator S Venkat Reddy have quit their party and are likely to join Chiranjeevi s party.
Exuding confidence that Left parties would contest the assembly together with TDP, Naidu said all like-minded parties opposing NDA and Congress would contest the elections together.
Asked whether TDP was in favour of coalition government after the polls, Naidu said "generally in Andhra Pradesh, people will give adequate mandate." Source : PTI
