LUCKNOW: A conglomeration of five regional parties demanding separate states in various parts of the country today announced their plan to support the national parties backing their cause in the next Lok Sabha elections.
The recently formed Nav Rajya Morcha comprising parties championing the cause of Purvanchal, Bundelkhand and Harit Pradesh in Uttar Pradesh, Telangana in Andhra Pradesh and Vidarbha in Maharashtra said that they will help major parties supporting their cause on the 90 Lok Sabha seats falling in these regions.
"Though none of the political parties except the Samajwadi Party oppose our demand of separate states, they have so far failed to initiate any concrete step in this direction," a senior member of the Nav Telangana Party P Nirup and Raja Bundela of Bundelkhand Mukti Morcha told reporters here.
"An important meeting of the morcha will be held on August 27 in Hyderabad in which leaders of these regions would chalk out future strategy and course of action," Nirup said.
The Morcha besides fielding its candidates on 90 seats would also discuss on extending support to parties backing their cause, he said.
The morcha will organise protest rallies and dharnas to exert its pressure on the Central Government for separate statehood cause, Bundela said. Source : PTI
