Guwahati:The Assam unit of the BJP today alleged that large migration from Bangladesh has posed a threat for the country.
Addressing a press conference here, party spokesman Charan Deka alleged that the UPA Government was "neglecting" the serious issue which could pose a threat for the country as a whole.
The BJP spokesman alleged that Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was taking the issue "lightly" and making "irresponsible" statements to divert public attention.
Claiming that the immigrants were in majority in atleast eight districts of the state, Deka said the situation in the state was becoming dangerous and it was high time that the authorities realised the threat.
Stating that a mass awareness movement was necessary to educate the people about this threat, Deka said the party would observe an "Awareness Day" on August 30 next and submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on August 25 during his visit to the state. Source : PTI
