Chandigarh:The police remand of former Haryana additional advocate general Sanjiv Bansal, whose munshi was arrested after delivering a sum of Rs 15 lakh to a judge s residence, was today extended by three days following its expiry.
Bansal was produced before the Court of Judicial Magistrate (first class) Mahesh Kumar. The prosecution told the court Bansal had not been cooperating during interrogation and the whereabouts of his associate Ravinder Singh, a Delhi based businessman, were still unknown.
It also mentioned addition of some sections to the FIR against Bansal regarding preparation of a forged agreement between property dealer Rajiv Gupta, also in custody, and one Ravinder Singh, dated August 13,on the sale of a plot in Sector 16,Panchkula.
The agreement was "presented to police by accused Gupta and Nirmal Singh on August 14 during the prelimnary inquiry for creating a false alibi to cover up for the offence of bribing a High Court judge," the prosecution said.
The prosecution had sought an extension of the remand by 11 days. The Court also extended by a day the police remand of Nirmal, also a city-based property dealer, earlier arrested for criminal conspiracy in the case.
Bansal had told police that the money was meant to be handed to Nirmal as a token amount in a property deal.
Bansal s house in Sector 8,Panchkula and Gupta s Panchkula home had both been searched by police during the night intervening August 22-23 leading to seizure of case files and property deeds besides four computers. Source : PTI
