Chandigarh:The Haryana Government will allot free residential plots to Backward Class families and distribute scholarships to students from such communities.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today said 100 square yard residential plots would be allotted to these families and scholarship scheme introduced from November 14, the birth anniversary of late Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
Hooda made the announcement to the people of BC category who had gathered at his residence.
The scheme would be implemented in line with the one introduced for the Scheduled Castes. All 71 BC sections in the state would be beneficiaries.
BC students would now be eligible for the monthly scholarship scheme introduced for their peers coming under below poverty line and scheduled castes.
Under the scheme, girl students in classes 1 to 5 would be given a scholarship of Rs 150 and boys Rs 75 while girls in classes 6 to 8 would be given Rs 200 and boys Rs 100,he said.
Similarly, girl students from class 9 to 12 would be eligible for Rs 300 and boys Rs 150. Girls in science stream would be given Rs 400 and boys Rs 200. Source : PTI
